Social networking has literally transformed the lives of ordinary people of all ages across the globe, not to mention businesses and organizations too.  In their eagerness to share their personal details with the outside world, however, some users of sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and LinkedIn have inadvertently transformed the lives of criminals, making their jobs much easier.

News of the arrests of three burglars in the US who used social networking sites to target members who were not at home must surely come as a wake-up call to anyone who has personal details posted on his/her profile.  In some cases, the risk arises because you have hundreds or even thousands of contacts, many of whom are not known to you personally, but of course they all can view their your details and status updates that might give enormous clues as to your daily schedules.  In others, the privacy settings that are being used do not restrict access sufficiently to afford any protection from the more unscrupulous members who troll the social sites for clues to take advantage of the users of these sites.  Don't let this happen to you, be aware of the information you put on your social networks.

Social networking sites can be great fun and a great way to communicate with existing contacts as well as to make new ones.  For the sake of your own personal safety and the safety of your property and possessions, though, care needs to be taken to ensure that those in your household are not too free and easy with details that are best withheld.

Mobile marketing is becoming more important everyday.  Everyone is walking around looking at their phones and businesses are starting to look at ways to get their information on consumers phones.  If you are a marketer you need to be marketing to mobile users.  We will go over the basics of mobile marketing, to help you get up to speed with this marketing method.

Implementing a Mobile Marketing plan into your current marketing strategy really isn’t all that difficult and it’s actually less expensive than you think, but it will take time to set up, monitor and maintain. It can’t be stressed enough that Mobile Marketing is about consistency and commitment. You have to think about what you want to offer your customers, how you want them to react to the offer and what you will do to see it through.

Business is about building relationships and Mobile Marketing fits into this concept perfectly. In order to be successful in offering your customers what they want, you have to first know what they want.

To help you on your way – here are a several steps you can take to begin implementing Mobile Marketing in your business today:

·         Learn the basics first. You have to crawl before you walk and walk before you run. If you are planning to go this alone and not hire an agency that specializes in this field, you must learn the basics. ·         Find companies who can provide you the technological support you’ll need to get your offer out to the masses. You’ll need text messaging companies, mobile website builders, etc., to make it all come together. Or, if you prefer, hire a one-stop shop to handle it all for you.

·         Never stop learning!  Mobile Marketing is a new technology and just like everything else, it will continue to evolve even in its formative days.  Learn what you’re competitors are learning – but do it first. Don’t get left behind!

Like it or not, Mobile Marketing IS the wave of the future of the Internet. The yellow pages and other forms of traditional marketing have run their course. It’s now time to embrace the new technology and discover what it can do for you and your business.

Before you start building your list

As we determined in the blog post your contact list is your most important asset.  Your list is your list of contacts and leads that you are going to use to build your business.  So you have to determine, before you start building you list what is the business you promoting  and who is your target market.

What good is having people on your business building list that have no interest in your product, or service. So before you start building your list you have to determine the type of business you are going to promote.  For instance if your business is weight loss, you would not be targeting people that are in long distance running clubs.  Odds are people in this category will not need your weight loss system.  

The first thing you need to do is determine your target market:

1) Who are the people using your product or service?
2) Where are the people you are trying to target?
3) What is the best way to reach the people you want your product or service?
4) How are you going to market your product or service to them in a way that will peak their interest?

These are just some of the questions you must answer before you start to build your list.  Once these questions are answered then you can start building your list.  Your most valuable asset in marketing and sales.

YOUR LIST dOES IT mATTER?

The simple answer to the question "Does your list matter?"  is Yes, your list does matter.  No matter what people tell as a marketer your most valuable asset is your list.  Why does your list matter?

This is again a simple answer.  The best way to market your products or services is to market to people who know, like, and trust you.  Think of it like this:  Which referral are you going to give more importance to?  A stranger you meet on a line somewhere or your friend you have know for years?  Simple you are going to listen to your friend, because you know, like, and trust them.  So what is your job as a marketer or salesperson?

You need to get people to know like and trust you, so start building your list.  But, building the list is not enough.  You need to interact with your list, keep your name or company name in you front of your list.  Give them information they can use in there businesses or everyday life, to grow business wise or personally.  Send you list thought provoking information that will help you develop a relationship with your list.  

There are many ways to grow your list and to keep your name or company on their minds, but that is an article for another day.  Remember your list is your most valuable asset if you want to grow your business, and influence your contacts.   It is very important that you organize your lists and contacts. This is important as you need to send them information that is relevant to them.
